One size. The hood pattern is taken from an original full size pattern, published in Der Bazar, January 1860, as well as in La Mode Illustree the same month. The Bazar pattern had full sewing instructions, which have been translated and annotated. The same hood image appeared in Godey's in 1860, but with an incorrect description and no pattern or instructions.
This hood is lightweight and cosy - because of the cross-over closure at the neck, no cold can creep in to bother the wearer, and the large collar protects the shoulders well. The hood is made from light weight wool and lined in quilted silk. The trim consists of braid loops with tassels. The hood could also be made in water-proof silk to protect from wind and rain.

This is a lovely piece. I made it for a play, but intend to wear it after just for me. the instructions are good to follow, as long as you read ahead and take your time. The pattern pieces themselves are very well marked, which is extremely useful.
