Frill Caps

A popular cap worn from the early 1700's into the 1820's. It's frill fastens under the chin. Portraits show Pennsylvania German and Quaker women favored the Flared Frill (on left). The Gathered Frill (on right) can be seen in portraits of women from New England and Virginia. Cap is primarily hand stitched. Pattern contains both styles.
