The Barkley is a paper shirt front, detachable bosum or dickey. 12" Long. Cardboard detachable bosums were worn in theater and service professions to save money from using linen formal shirts for uniforms. Examples of professions that used paper shirt fronts include waiters, hotel managers, doormen, bellboys, limo drivers, and servants.

An unusual surprise for your sweetheart...

I purchased this item along with paper collars and studs as a 'prize' for my sweetheart (being a good sport and tackling some of his '6 month' list). I was able to state 'You will NEVER guess!!!' as a teaser and when I did give it to him; he was absolutely Delighted! Also agreed about never guessing. This was a reasonable gift to give the love in your life for simple appreciation and perhaps a future tea to be had at home where it can be worn. Who says staying at home during this time cannot be interesting And Fun!
