1850s-1870s Tucked Chemise

Chemises or 'shimmie' were worn throughout the nineteenth century next to the body. The corset was put on over the chemise. Generally, they were calf-length.

This pattern is multi-sized 8 through 26.  This Chemise features Eyelet Trim and Short Sleeves.

A medium weight, high thread count, white cotton sheeting is a good substitute for the original fabric.

Sizes 8-16 requires 3 Yds. of 45" wide fabric, for sizes 18-20: 3-7/8 Yds., for sizes 22-26: 4 Yds. If you pieces the neck band the sizes 8-16 requires 3 Yds., the sizes 18-26 requires 3-/4 Yds.
